Fall 2015 Maker-in-Residence Project

Telescope Build

Astronomy enthusisast Jim Pressley led a design project to design and create a Newtonian telescope for the Carolina community in this years project.  Undergraduate students learned about how telescopes work and how they are made.  Students designed and assembled pieces using their maker skills over the course of a month.  The final telescope was displayed to the public at a capstone event with Morehead Planetarium , where students saw a planetarium show then went outside to use the student made telescope.
